Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cultivation Maintenance Technician to oversee the operational and maintenance aspects of our greenhouse cultivation facility. The ideal candidate will ensure the optimal functioning of irrigation, water management, environmental control systems, and related equipment to support healthy plant growth. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining a high-performance cultivation environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Irrigation Management: Oversee and maintain irrigation lines, schedule and monitor irrigation events, and ensure consistent delivery of water and nutrients to plants. Monitor and adjust water needs based on plant requirements and environmental conditions.
- Water System Maintenance: Manage water tanks, reverse osmosis (RO) systems, and greenhouse irrigation infrastructure. Rebuild and service Dosatron units to ensure accurate nutrient dosing and system reliability. Managing Sprayers.
- Environmental Control Systems: Operate and maintain greenhouse systems, including lighting, under-bench heating, propane heaters, rooftop vents, side vents, fans, insect netting, and light deprivation curtains. Monitor and adjust systems to maintain optimal growing conditions.
- Fuel and Propane Management: Track and manage propane levels for heaters and ensure fuel levels for equipment are maintained. Keep all equipment properly fueled and operational.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on cultivation equipment, including greasing, fueling, and troubleshooting mechanical issues to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Inventory and Supplies Management: Monitor and manage stock levels of nutrients, growing media, and cultivation supplies. Coordinate with suppliers to maintain adequate inventory for operational needs.
- System Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly inspect all systems for performance and potential issues. Document maintenance activities, system performance, and inventory usage, reporting any concerns to management promptly.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations, ensuring all equipment and systems meet operational standards and contribute to a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or technical certification in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in greenhouse maintenance, cultivation operations, or a similar role.
- Proven experience in greenhouse or agricultural maintenance, with expertise in irrigation systems, water management, and environmental controls.
- Technical knowledge of Dosatron units, RO systems, greenhouse lighting, heating systems, and ventilation equipment.
- Familiarity with nutrient management and cultivation supplies.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high operational standards.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, and operating machinery.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Knowledge of safety and compliance standards in cultivation facilities
Work Environment:
- This position involves working in a greenhouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and outdoor conditions.
- Requires standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and operating equipment for extended periods.
- Occasional weekend or evening work may be required to meet cultivation needs.
